A lot of people ask me which pens I use. I have tried many different types over the years and have finally settled on some that give me the best and most consistent coverage. I love these as they are refillable and I can choose any ink that I like - I have found that the best ink is actually the Rotring ink itself - which should come as no surprise really!!!
I mainly use the 2 pens pictured the 0.30mm and the 0.18mm Sometimes when additional detail is required I will go to the 0.10mm. As you can see from the picture these nibs are very small and also quite difficult to write with. The other thing to keep in mind is that these have chrome plated tips - this means that they do not alter shape as they get older. Some of the felt tip pens will distort over time and you end up with multiple size dots across the image. They are a little expensive but a great investment if stippling is an art form you are going to undertake..
